This tiny island in Kaluwamodara makes a meditation center for Buddhist monks. From one side of the island it is the Indian ocean, on the other side it’s Bentota river. So this tiny island is located in between a river and the ocean which is not very common to see.
This island sets a calm and serene surrounding for the monks, providing them the ideal environment to meditate.
Visitors are also welcome to this place. But they should come in appropriate dress code and maintain discipline without disturbing this island’s peaceful atmosphere.
This place is the ideal place for anyone to meditate. Sea waves crashing at the rocks, birds chirping in the trees and with the shelter of the trees, you get lost in its charm. It instantly sets your mind free.
If you are in the area you should definitely visit this place. You can either walk all the way following the sea border or you can come from the land side.
