What would happen to Earth if the Sun suddenly disappeared?
Chaos would creep in slowly.
First, it will take Earth 8 Minutes and 20 seconds to realize that the Sun is gone. As soon as the gravitational effect is lost, the earth will shoot out of its orbit in tangent to its current position.
Photosynthesis will stop and the process of converting Carbon Dioxide to Oxygen will stop.
A big problem would be the dropping temperature.
The average earth temperature which is 57 degrees Fahrenheit to 32 degrees (12-15 C will drop to 0 C) in 1 week and to -100 degrees (-73 C) in 1 year.
In 1-3 years the oceans all over the world would freeze, but just the surface. It would take another thousand years for our seas to freeze completely solid.
But by then, Earth would be an inhospitable wasteland drifting aimlessly through space.
