Two Galaxies close to collision by James Webb Space Telescope captured on March 16, 2022

On March 16, 2022 NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope JWST took first scientific image of stars and galaxies and even their collision. First detailed image was taken during telescope alignment evaluation procedure. JWST also took another selfie in space. Near Infrared Camera (NIRCam) instrument made the general image. That’s why the red color is dominant in the contrast. Telescope was trying to focus on the brightest star in the center of perspective, but incredible sensitivity of JWST’s optics allowed to detect many galaxies and stars, some of them likely about to collide. As for now Webb still in calibration phase. But first scientific results are available already.
