The Moto 360 smartwatch is a good, even excellent, Wear OS watch. Those taken in by the nostalgia of the Moto 360 name and shape will feel right at home, as the iconic design has been updated in the best way: the sensors are accurate, the UI is easy to navigate, and the information the watch provides is useful.
The design, while prominent, isn’t big and bulky, with the slick stainless steel and choice of colors leaves the user looking and feeling like they’re wearing a mechanical timepiece. If you’re dithering between other operating systems, such as the Apple Watch and its WatchOS or Samsung’s Tizen software, the Moto 360 can’t topple the others as the best in the game. The Moto 360 might be among the best Wear OS watches out there, but the nostalgia behind the name isn’t enough to break away from the pack.
The Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 feels familiar yet different, and I mean that in the best way possible. It looks like a Galaxy Watch, but this iteration is sharper and more sophisticated. The software works like Tizen, but the updated Google Wear OS platform is pragmatic and precise. Samsung ditched the 'Active' branding for its latest lineup instead of pitching a sporty-looking Galaxy Watch 4 as the company's flagship and a 'Classic' version that carries on the luxurious characteristics of last year's Samsung Galaxy Watch 3. The Galaxy Watch 4 packs a 3-in-1 health sensor for measuring heart rate, taking ECGs, and reading body composition — it's the first significant smartwatch to offer bioelectrical impedance analysis. Do I sense the Apple Watch 7 getting nervous? There's no question that the Galaxy Watch 4 is the best smartwatch yet for people with Samsung smartphones, and the best Samsung watch ever.
The Fitbit Versa 2 was the company's first true smartwatch, and it's stood the test of time well. Even though it's now been superseded by the Fitbit Versa 3, which has the added benefit of onboard GPS, it's still one of the best Fitbits you can buy and particularly worth considering if you're in the market for a cheap fitness tracker. After the launch of Fitbit's first smartwatch, the Ionic, the company struggled to compete with the likes of the Apple Watch and dedicated running watches from Garmin.
Then, along came the Fitbit Versa, and it turned the company's fortunes around. So it's no wonder Fitbit quickly followed that up with a cheaper, more pared-back Versa Lite smartwatch while also refining the original Versa into a much-improved Versa 2. With the Versa 2, Fitbit has again proved that you don't necessarily need top-notch features to make a terrific fitness watch, and it doesn't need to burn a hole in your wallet.
