Todd Quarter Road Railroad Crossing, Waterloo, SC

*originally recorded on 2-28-22*

Signal on the left: 2 pairs of Safetran 12x24 inch lights, a Safetran gate mechanism, RECO gate lights, and an NEG LED gate light.
Signal on the right: 2 pairs of Safetran 12x24 inch lights, a WCH mechanical bell, a Safetran gate mechanism, RECO gate lights, and an NEG LED gate light.

After seeing F785 leave Greenwood, they stopped and worked a customer on the Spartanburg Sub on their way out of town. As such, I decided to stop at this crossing and set-up to wait for them to come north. Here we see them for the second time today, with three more cars on the head-end.

This crossing is a nice one, featuring a mid-90s CSX install that's almost entirely original. In fact, the only notable changes here (other than the signage) is that the middle gate lights here on both arms were replaced with NEG LED gate lights sometime within the past few years. No other notable changes have occured to these signals since they were installed, including having both of the original fiberglass diagonally-striped gate arms and most of the original incandescent gate lights on them! Always do enjoy seeing 90s CSX installs like this, especially with their original WCH mechanical bells like this one, so I'm glad I got to record this guy. Hopefully it'll remain around here unchanged for many more years to come.
