BK believes this thunderstorm to be of the orographic type, though don't quote BK on that. Pretty typical this time of the year in the desert southwest. Moisture from the Gulf combined with geographic lifting creates random and chaotic weather patterns a few months of the year. Aside from their potential to cause massive destruction, thunderstorms are one of BK's favorite experiences. It's a treat to be able to watch all three stages from start to end in around the course of an hour.
