Shady Rest Road Railroad Crossing, Scotland, FL

*originally recorded on 3-28-22*

Signal on the left: 1 pair of Modern Industries 12x24 inch lights, 1 pair of Harmon 12x24 inch lights, and 2 pairs of Federal Signal 12x24 inch lights.
Signal on the right: 2 pairs of Modern Industries 12x24 inch lights, 2 pairs of Safetran 12x20 inch lights, and a WRRS mechanical bell.

After chasing TA-Local out of Tallahassee, I stopped and set-up at this crossing near the community of Scotland, FL, to get it again. Here we see this train at the third crossing I got it at on this day.

This crossing is another rather nice one, featuring what I believe is an early-70s SCL install that's still fairly original. In the 80s/early 90s, it appears that CSX replaced all of the mast lights here with MI 12x24s, along with making the earlier FS 12 inch lights on the far side 12x24s as well. For some reason, they didn't do the same thing to the 70s Safetran 12x20s on the closer signal. Then, in the late-90s, for whatever reason, the rear mast lights of the far cantilever were also replaced yet again, this time with the current Harmon 12x24s. Since then, it doesn't appear any major changes have occured here, thankfully.
Not entirely sure if these cantilevers are both original to this crossing or if the closer one is slightly newer, but I do believe they may have been installed at the same time. The bell here is almost certainly original though, and thankfully CSX had left this crossing gateless so it still works. Still sounds fairly decent, if a bit rough, which is rather nice to see. Hopefully these signals remain around for years to come.
