February 24, 2022 marked not only a watershed moment for the people of Ukraine and the political order in Europe (and the world) - since then, artists in many places have also come under increasing pressure. It is precisely these artists, in turn, that Ars Electronica and the Austrian Ministry of International and European Affairs want to provide with a stage and a worldwide audience in the form of "State of the ART(ist)". Within the framework of an open call, projects and statements from all over the world were collected; starting in September, many of them will be shown in a virtual art gallery. "State of the ART(ist)" will then contribute an important perspective to "Planet B," which is the theme of the Ars Electronica Festival this time around.
Christl Baur (Head of Ars Electronica Festival), Martin Honzik (Chief Curatorial Officer Ars Electronica, Managing Director Ars Electronica Festival/Prix/Export)) and Gerfried Stocker (Artistic Director Ars Electronica) will provide a first impression of what the public can expect from "State of the ART(ist)" during an online press conference (in English) on Monday, August 8, at 12:00 noon (CEST).
