Apple has recently released the M1 Max and M1 Ultra Mac Studio and while this computer is great for people at the higher end, for the vast majority of Apple users the M1 Max and M1 Ultra chip are overkill for what they need their Mac to do and on their wallets. However, we can learn a lot about Apple's future computer plans on what chip they didn't throw into the Mac Studio because the lack of a cheaper M1 Pro Mac Studio means that it is very likely that Apple is working on putting that chip into the cheaper Mac mini and it could result in an M1 or M2 Pro Mac mini that would be the right balance of performance and price for most users.
