Universal Music Group and LimeWire Partners to Allow Artists Release NFTs on Marketplace

Universal Music assured that the joint venture will commit to “quality content, utility and accessibility.” The duo said they would offer unique and secured NFT projects for artists and fans.

Non-fungible token (@what-is-non-fungible-token/) marketplace LimeWire has entered into an unprecedented deal with Universal Music Group to let the group’s artists release NFTs on the marketplace. With the partnership, all artists that belong to the Universal Music Group will have access to the LimeWire collectibles marketplace. The Universal Music Group consists of notable artists such as Kendrick Lamar, The Weekend, Taylor Swift, Abba, Elton John, The Rolling Stones, U2, and BTS. The announcement does not say that the artists would release their own NFTs. Rather, the deal between LimeWire and Universal Music will enable them to if they wish.
