Sound absorption in a nightclub? It may seem contradictory at first, but one of Landau’s nightclubs, Jeanne d’Arc, has made it a reality. Recording studios and concert halls are already using BASF’s melamine resin foam Basotect® for acoustic insulation. At the disco in Landau, it is now providing a special kind of aesthetic and acoustic experience. Its open-cell structure absorbs the sound waves almost entirely, thus keeping it loud inside without disturbing the neighbors. The lightweight, low-flammability foam can be produced in a wide variety of colors and shapes making it a flexible design option for sound absorbers. 1,200 large cylindrical baffles and over 100 cubes of Basotect® G+ are suspended from the disco’s ceiling over an area of more than 1,000 m².
