Jurassic Park: 1999 is a passion project fan-film. It takes place between The Lost World and Jurassic Park 3. It is supposed to help fill the gap between those movies, and even connect to Jurassic World. It follows an InGen raptor expert on Isla Sorna who has to get off of the island after a fire was started in the New Worker Village that released InGen’s new assets. Jurassic Park: 1999 was written by, directed by, and stars Spenser Mehew, a student paleontologist and life-long fan of the Jurassic Park franchise. The cinematography was done by professional cinematographer Clay Bowen. Alan Cross stars as the villain, and his help was crucial for making the film alongside Jackson Mehew’s assistance as well. This short-film has a large emphasis on horror, suspense, and the unseen. Both CGI and practical effects were used to help make the film seem as scary as possible. Spenser Mehew made the practical raptor head puppet, and AngryGal (Sara) did the animation for the dinosaurs in the short. It was filmed in Larkspur, Colorado to capture the forest setting of Isla Sorna.
