*Trigger warning* r*pe, a$sault. This was one of the hardest videos to make. There is something going on in the surgery/anesthesia world that I feel is getting buried. I felt both conflicted about talking about such triggering circumstances for fear of making it seem like I was in it for the "views", and also because I don't want patients to feel they need to be scared or uncertain when going under. The last thing you should feel is unsafe around your OR team. But unfortunately, the real world is that there are a few really bad actors out there who erode our sense of trust in a system at which make ourselves the most vulnerable we will possibly ever be. That being said: I think it's important to expose these events, and bring them to light, so that we can develop the all-too-necessary system processes that help protect us (speaking largely about women, and in particular at-risk and minority women here). Even if you are a man, your loved ones need to hear this and YOU need to hear this as well. This applies to everyone.
