iPhone 14 will soon hit the stores, and I’m sure many of you can’t wait to check it out.

But is it safe? What are the security improvements or threats coming with this shiny new device?

Analysts claim that iPhone 14 will ditch the Face ID functions.

This aspect will surely come as a gift to those concerned about the safety of biometric identification. Biometric identification has been a long-time debate subject in the cybersecurity community.

People managed to unlock somebody else’s phone with Face ID in the past. Moreover, users constantly face the threat of their biometric data leaking or getting stolen.

iPhone 14 is also rumored to include satellite connectivity. Users can employ this feature to send text messages and report emergencies without regular cellular connectivity.

It’s a handy function if you urgently need to use a phone in an area with no network coverage.

Apple’s upcoming iOS16 will include a new feature called Lockdown Mode. It will provide users with additional protection against cyberattacks by limiting the functionality of the iPhone.

For example, Lockdown Mode will block attachments other than images, disable the preview function, will block invitations, service requests, and wired connections to minimize the possibility of contracting malware.

Lockdown Mode is more of a nuclear option than a day-to-day protection feature, but it will be very useful if you face a high risk of cyberattacks.

eSIM cards were already introduced to Apple phones back in 2018. However, whispers suggest that iPhone 14 or at least a few of its models will be eSIM-only phones.

This feature will allow you to activate plans without physical SIM cards. It will also decrease the chances of losing your SIM card.

As you can see, Apple tries to boost its security a little, so hopefully, we’ll have a safer iPhone experience in the future.
