I pointed my telescope at the Milky Way and captured a dying cluster and a dying star.
This GIANT globular cluster (NGC 6712) with about 1 million stars is slowly dissolving, growing fainter as it passes through the Milky Way's disc, losing its lower mass stars into the galaxy's halo.
And off to the right is a star in its last breath of life (IC 1295). It's ejecting a glowing shell of gas common with red giant stars late in their life.
