I am severely allergic to poison ivy. Every year it's a guarantee that I'll get covered in the rash when I clean up the yard. I have tried multiple products that claim to remove the poison oils from your skin that cause the rash, but have never found them to be particularly effective. This past Winter, I saw a video that stated a clean cloth and friction is the most effective method for removing the poison ivy oils.
Last weekend I cleaned up part of the yard for the Spring. I worked in an area where I knew there was poison ivy. When I was finished, I came inside and cleaned my arms and hands with nothing but regular hand soap, water, and the friction of a clean towel. It's like a miracle--I didn't get any poison ivy rash at all!
