This is a 1-minute, quiet video (as requested by my viewers) about how to bring up the recovery options on a new MacBook Pro with an M1 chip. The M1 chipped Macs were introduced in November 2020. Here are the steps if you don't like watching videos. You are welcome!
1 - Turn off your Mac.
2 - Press the on button and keep it pressed.
3 - Eventually the Apple logo will appear with text below it informing you that if you continue holding the power button you will be able to access startup options. Keep pressing that button.
4 - You will see and be able to select Options.
5 - Select continue and this will bring up recovery options.
To help you, I am also including steps to get to recovery options for Intel-based Macs
1 - Click on the Apple logo at the very top left.
2 - Select Restart and immediately hold down the Command and R keys until you see an Apple logo or spinning globe. You will see the spinning globe if the Mac is trying to start macOS Recovery via the internet because it is unable to start from the built-in recovery system.
3 - Your Mac will show the Recovery Mode macOS Utilities window with all available options.
