How did the Voyager space crafts avoid getting hit by asteroids?
It was simple. They minded their own business. The asteroid belt lies between Mars and Jupiter. And Even though there are millions, possibly billions of objects in the asteroid belt, the average distance between them is around 600,000 miles.
The universe is a mind-bogglingly vast, but empty place.
Voyagers 1 and 2 would have had to be extremely unlucky to encounter a grain of dust large enough to cause damage.
