A potentially hazardous Asteroid is heading toward Earth. And it's as big as the Empire State Building.
It's called Asteroid 99942 Apophis. It weighs 59 billion pounds (59,502,764,563 pounds, 26.99 billion kg)

Initial observations indicated a probability up to a 2.7% chance that it would hit Earth. It caused a brief period of concern in December 2004"
But the current estimate now says it will pass us around 19,600 miles away (31,600 kilometers). That's 10 times closer than the moon.
It will be the closest asteroid of its size in recorded history and will be visible to the unaided eye. An asteroid this size is expected to impact Earth once every 80,000 years.
