Signal on the left: 2 pairs of Safetran 12x24 inch lights with GE Uniform Look LEDs.
Signal on the right: 2 pairs of Safetran 12x24 inch lights with GE Uniform Look LEDs and a General Signals Type 3 electronic bell.
After catching the AN at FL 12, I chased them on up to this crossing on the south side of the small, unincorporated community of Hardaway. This is the only signalized crossing in this community, and was the last crossing I filmed them at on their northbound trip to Chattahoochee. Three down, two to go.
This crossing is another pretty decent one. The signals here appear to have originally been installed by the AN back in the early 1970s. Then, in the 1980s, all of the lights were upgraded to the current Safetran 12x24s, followed by the bell being replaced with a WCH mechanical bell in I believe the 90s. The crossing then remained unchanged for around at least a decade, until the mid-2010s, when the crossing was upgraded to LED and the bell was replaced with a GS Type 3. Since then, no major changes appear to have occurred to this crossing.
This crossing is probably the most boring of the active ones on the AN, TBH, given that it has all 12x24s with LEDs and an e-bell. However, it's still fairly decent, IMHO, given that it has a nice pair of older gateless signals at it. This crossing is also the only active gateless crossing along the line with the bell on the east side of the tracks as well. This is also currently the only active signalized crossing on the AN that's not in/near Greensboro.
