While I was in South Carolina, @FanFan61618 texted me that he got a Safetran mechanical bell, his first crossing bell in fact, so I decided to go over and visit with him and see it. No idea where this bell came from, as he got it from another person at a model train show in trade for a bunch of old HO scale cars and track (IIRC), but it seems to have been somewhere near a lime quarry or something, given what appears to be a lot of lime caked onto the front of it. I also feel like it probably served on an NS line/crossing as well, likely having originally been installed in the 90s or so, given the sound of the gong. Certainly a nice little bell, and he seems to be enjoying it. It also has a rather nice sound to it, despite the lime (or something) caked across the gong. I should probably see about taking my Safetran bell over to his house sometime and running it with this one, lol.
For anyone curious, the bolt that holds the rear door shut is broken, so that's why it's open in all of these shots.
Also, apologies for the out of focus shot. I'd forgotten I had my camera set on manual focus, so I didn't realize it wasn't focused on the bell like it should've been.
