After a full day of documenting changes along the P&A and Tallahassee Subs the day prior, I got up on March 28th and went out to see about shooting the FGAR for the first time. Decided to go after TA-Local, as it was going to go up to Georgia and I wanted to get some of the crossings along the Bainbridge Sub. As such, I decided to set-up at this crossing along the Tallahassee Sub and wait for them. Eventually, after about 2.5 hours of waiting, TA-Local departed the yard and came through this crossing with a single HLCX GP38-2 for power.
This crossing is a rather nice one, featuring what appears to be a mid-70s SCL install that is still largely original. I believe that in the 1980s, the SBD or early CSX replaced all of the original WABCO 8 inch lights here with the current MI 12x24s. Then, in the 90s or so (it appears), the base on the gateless signal here was also replaced with a newer one. Since then, however, this crossing has thankfully remained largely unchanged, and even still retains both of its original Federal Signal bells! Both also still sound fairly healthy, which is nice to see.
This is honestly probably my favorite crossing in Tallahassee, so I'm glad I was able to get it recorded as my first FGAR crossing (under FGAR ownership, at least, as I had recorded some of the crossings on the P&A and Tallahassee Subs back in 2016 when CSX still owned all of these lines). The crossing also features two different styles of counterweight arms, interestingly enough, with the closer signal having the standard WABCO counterweight arms while the far signal has WRRS counterweight arms (something that the SCL primarily did on their MI installs from around this time, it appears). The far signal also features what appears to be a re-used WRRS base as well, though I don't know if that's original to these signals or was installed later. Hopefully these nice older signals remain entirely unchanged for years to come.
