Earth Was PURPLE?!? #shorts

Did Earth use to be purple? NASA says, "Yes" - we weren't always the Blue Marble.

Ancient microbes might have used a molecule other than chlorophyll to harness the Sun's rays, one that gave organisms a violet hue. Photosynthetic life forms of early Earth were retinal-based rather than chlorophyll-based.

And Purple Earth may have lasted for over a billion years - around 2.4 to 3.5 billion years ago. The earth is 4.5 years old.
