Apple’s goal to increase the number of ads on iPhones and iPads is a trending cybersecurity topic this week. One of the biggest technology giants may include commercials in more iOS apps, making customers concerned about their internet security. What changes could Apple users expect in the near future?

Apple hopes to double its annual ad revenue. In order to do that tech giant plans to significantly increase the number of ads shown on iPhones and iPads.
The news came as a surprise because just last year company launched a feature called App Tracking Transparency, or ATT. For some users, the new ad strategy may seem like a step back or an act against the company’s own privacy policies.
As Mark Gurman from Bloomberg claims: “... it feels like quite a shift from when Steve Jobs gleefully touted that iCloud would have no ads when he announced it in 2011.”
Right now, advertising in iPhones and iPads includes showing ads in the News and Stocks apps. Some commercials also pop up in the App store. Where could in-app advertising go next?
As Mark Gurman says, the company recently internally tested ads in Apple Maps.
Commercials in Maps would likely adopt the prioritization mechanism. For example, restaurants paying a fee could have their services appear higher in the results when the user searches for places to eat.
Ads may also appear in the Podcasts and Books apps. But it remains a prediction for now.
Apple also claims that new ad placements will stick to the same rigorous privacy policy, which was released last year.
ATT pop-ups that let you choose tracking preferences won’t show up on apps by Apple. According to the company, it’s because no third-party tracking will occur. The users can be sure their privacy is safe. Is this statement valid? We will see in the near future.
Yet, the biggest question remains whether Apple users are ready to see more ads on their devices.
