Albert Einstein once said: “Life is like riding a bicycle – to keep your balance you have to keep moving forward” and this is still very true today. In times when our world is gathering new momentum and is dominated by change and extremes, making progress and at the same time finding the right balance for success is a powerful message for everyone.
Farmers are masters of finding the right balance. They have to be agronomists, scientists, engineers, business managers, data analysts, logistics experts and crisis managers – as well as husbands, wives, parents and employers. They have to find the right balance for success every day, every season – their work must be equally environmentally sound, economically viable, socially responsible, and must serve as the foundation for future generations. Farming, it’s the biggest job on earth.
There has never been a more challenging time in agriculture. But there has also never been a time of greater opportunity. Balancing the need for increased productivity, environmental protection and value to society will be vital to overcoming the food challenges of the future.
