Aha Nature Moments: Flying Squirrel

It’s a Bird, It’s a Bat, It’s a … SQUIRREL?!
Ohio’s most common yet rarely seen squirrel, the southern flying squirrel, is a year-round resident of the oak/hickory forests at the Fernald Preserve, Ohio, Site. This shy, nocturnal creature glides from tree to tree using flaps of loose skin while steering with a flattened, rudder-like tail. So while this animal isn’t a bird or a bat, it IS a super-hero SQUIRREL!
