After filming the 508 in Decatur, I went and got a couple of videos of NS 202 over in Jackson County before returning back to Huntsville for the Madison County test. Decided to go for this 2001-130 at Fire Station 15 since it was the only remaining 2001-130 in the county that hadn't been filmed yet.
As it got close to noon, I set-up my camera and started recording. But when the siren started to rotate, no sound came-out! Clearly something is quite wrong here, so I recorded a video of it on my phone and sent it to Scott at the Madison County EMA so he could see it. Not sure what caused the issue, though I imagine that the EMA will see about getting it fixed rather soon.
The tower it's one seems to be a bit loose as well, as it rocks back and forth as the siren rotates.
Thankfully, you can hear at least a couple of the nearby 2001s going off for their tests quite well, which make for a nice little ambiance. Shortly after what's supposed to be the audible test, this siren starts rotating again for the silent test that Madison County does for the rotating sirens. This 2001-130 replaced a 2001-SRN that was located on the same tower back in 2016 or 2017, IIRC. Believe this was also the last 2001 that was installed by the county, though a volunteer fire department near Gurley later replaced their 2001 with a 2001-130 as well.
Madison County, AL tests on the 1st Wednesday of every month at noon, weather permitting. If the test is unable to be conducted on the 1st Wednesday, it's then delayed to the 2nd Wednesday of the month at noon, weather permitting.
