Former NASA astronaut and current Dartmouth Medical School professor of space medicine, Dr. Jay Buckey, presents his personal experience traveling to space as part of the NeuroLab SpaceLab Mission aboard the Columbia shuttle. He explains the human body’s physiological response to weightlessness during space travel and details how the future of space travel is complicated by the unknown brain adaptations resulting from weightlessness, galactic cosmic radiation exposure and social isolation stress.
